Western Herbalism 101
An Introduction to Plant Medicine
Perfect for the beginning herbalist or a refresher for the experienced one, this class introduces the basics of Western Herbalism, bioregionalism, herbal nutrition, and the foundations of holistic herbal health. Each student will get hands-on experience making their own herbal preparations, including tisanes and tinctures.
Students will learn about the medicinal properties and uses of over thirty herbs, on our half-acre medicinal garden. Herb walks and classroom lectures will follow as students gain experience in plant identification, and explore the vast uses of plants in our native environment.
Each student will gain hands-on experience making their own herbal preparations, including tisanes and tinctures, as well as methods for cultivating and harvesting herbs.
From here, students can choose to continue herbal education in our higher level course, Foundations of Western Herbalism.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
Become aware of the basic foundations, history, and lineage of Western Herbalism
Learn the basic principles, preparations, applications, and precautions in herbal medicine making
Learn botanical names, folk names, harvest principles, and medicinal applications of 30 commonly used western herbs
Instill a sense of holistic being and living that compliments cohabitation with man, earth , and being
Gain a better understanding of bioregionalism, what it means, and how to actively apply
Basic growing principles for many Florida bioregional medicinal plants
Immerse into the world of herbal medicine

- Lineage and history of Western Herbalism
- Basic biodynamic principles and bioregional medicinals
- Plant Spirit medicine and relationships
- Basic herbal medicine making and application
- Wildcrafting and safe harvesting practices

Tuition- $300
Virtual registration must be completed at least one week before class's start date if student wishes to receive herbs to use during class. An $8.50 shipping fee will apply!
