Western Herbalism 101

An Introduction to Plant Medicine

Perfect for the beginning herbalist or a refresher for the experienced one, this class introduces the basics of Western Herbalism, bioregionalism, herbal nutrition, and the foundations of holistic herbal health. Each student will get hands-on experience making their own herbal preparations, including tisanes and tinctures.

Students will learn about the medicinal properties and uses of over thirty herbs, on our half-acre medicinal garden. Herb walks and classroom lectures will follow as students gain experience in plant identification, and explore the vast uses of plants in our native environment.

Each student will gain hands-on experience making their own herbal preparations, including tisanes and tinctures, as well as methods for cultivating and harvesting herbs.

From here, students can choose to continue herbal education in our higher level course, Foundations of Western Herbalism.
