Foundations of Western Herbalism
Our 2025 Cohort has begun and is full.
The 2026 Foundations application (beginning April 2026) is now open. (Click here for 2026 application.)
Western Herbalism 101 is a prerequisite before you can apply for this program!
Our Foundations of Western Herbalism Curriculum is designed to immerse both the beginner and intermediate herbalist in the basic knowledge needed to provide herbal care for themselves and their family. In doing this, we provide a grounded, well-rounded western herbal program to evolve and take into the student’s home and community.
This intermediate program provides students with a strong base to continue exploring the fascinating world of herbalism, and provides a space in which one can continue to immerse themselves in this field within a small class setting. This is comprised of eight weekend intensives. Attendance to all eight is required for completion and progression into the Advanced/Clinical Western Herbalist program. Western Herbalism 101 is a pre-requisite for Foundations of Western Herbalism.
Some of the topics covered:
Plant Spirit Medicine
Energetics
Diagnostics
Bioregionalism
Materia Medica associated with each body system

The properties of over 200 herbs

Pre-requisite OR additional requirement : There is an Anatomy requirement for both our Foundations of Western Herbalism and Chinese Herbalism programs. If you have already taken a college-level Anatomy course, this works as a pre-requisite. If you have not, we do offer an Anatomy for the Herbalist 13-part series that fulfills this requirement as well. Participation in all 13 classes is needed to meet Anatomy requirement. The great part about this series is that we offer a 2 hour crash course for each body system year round. We have done our best to align those classes to occur the week before the appropriate Foundations Class.
IF NEEDING ANATOMY COURSE: Anatomy for the Herbalist Series cost: $35 per class or $400 if purchased as a bundle before first class of series. (2026 Anatomy Series starts January 16)
TUITION: Tuition includes all classes, handouts, medicine making supplies. Text book not included.
